COVID-19 has changed the way we work
Our job is a very relational one. Our focus has been on being physically together with our clients as we worked together on personal finances. However, with the spread of COVID-19, that is no longer a safe way to engage with our clients. Within weeks of the stay at home order we were able to successfully transition all of our clients to a remote-only model. This has involved the introduction of new technology that many of our clients had not used before. With the information technology background of Thomas Lapp, we were able to implement the technology needed to stay in contact and continue our work with clients.
Our focus is on remote work for clients at this time
At this time, we are meeting with our clients who are in care facilities via a remote means only. We use a contactless method of exchanging any paper information needed to continue to provide services for those clients. We make use of digital storage and access of paperwork whenever possible with the client.
For those clients whom require one-on-one visits, we are limiting our frequency of visits. This allows Thomas to limit contact with clients. In addition, he is limiting his external contacts in his personal life to limit possible transmission from others. When visiting a client, we practice a heightened level of cleaning both before and after our visit. We sanitize any materials brought into the home for the visit, as well as sanitizing any surfaces we have touched during the visit. During visits, both we and our clients are required to wear masks and we maintain a 6 ft distance during the visit. Our goal is to minimize the opportunity to cross-transmit the virus.
The situation is difficult but we are working our way through this
We often work with clients who have difficulty with change. This period of time is one in which we have a greater-than-normal amount of change in our lives. Our processes continue to remain flexible so that we can shift to finding solutions so that we can continue to provide the high level of service our clients expect. Because circumstances change over time, our response will also be ready to change as needed.
